The smell made me eventually throw them away after trying: airing for weeks, soaking in vinegar water, Febreze and letting them get rained on. The slipper itself smelled slightly less bad after all that but the removable insole was still just overwhelmingly bad smelling. It's like a glue smell. My fit answers are iffy, I didn't actually get to wear them.
