very sharp looking shoes!

These shoes have the wonderful detail and finish as all L'Artiste shoes have. I bought the black, and the contrasting color stitching gives a nice effect. I'm short, so the higher heel--without being a "high heel"--is nice. They have less cushioning on the sole than many other L'Artiste shoes, so are a bit stiffer and harder on the feet bottoms--I may put in a liner as there will be room as I bought the 38 for my size 7+ foot to allow for the wide width of my feet. Additionally, because they do lace (as well as have a zipper), I am able to loosen the laces to allow for more width. As others commented, there is also a piece of leather that runs around the top of the back of the shoe that could be a problem for someone with prominent ankle bones. I solved that issue by putting in a heel insert pad to raise the back of my foot. All in all, I am happy with these shoes--they add to my collection of almost two dozen L'Artiste shoes and boots.

Unique shoes

The higher piece at the top of the heel rubs right beneath my ankle on the outside but insoles and moleskin should take care of that. I have very narrow high arched feet but these will work. And they are not your plain, everyday boots! These are my fourth pair of SpringSteps so I will continue to try them in the future.

Beautiful but uncomfortable

The styling and colors of these shoes are gorgeous. I got the brown and I wanted so much for them to work for me. I wear an 8.5-9 and size 40 was a perfect fit. However, despite the flexibility, I found the soles to be quite hard and uncomfortable to wear and the sides are cut too high for me so they cut into my ankles. I am sadly returning.
